Norman and Jill have many years of experience and resources to share. This longer-form course allows for that knowledge to be shared and processed over a period of time, which may feel more manageable and meaningful amidst other responsibilities and demands in life
It could be thought of as easy to learn the Yin poses (as there are fewer) and they are less physically complicated than other forms of asana, however to see the practice as a pathway inward to knowing one’s self and to be able to share this skillfully with others takes time, dedication and practice.
It is an opportunity for those who wish to learn in depth the poses and possibilities of Yin yoga, whether they have the intention to teach it to others, or not.
Participating in a group experience over 6 months allows for genuine connection, support and a container to hold experiences of transformation.
Norman and Jill have been leading yoga teacher training courses for many years. Students have often asked in the past, how do I start teaching Yin yoga? The answer until now has been to complete a 200 hour yoga teacher training and then book a shorter course in Yin yoga. We wish to make teaching Yin yoga more accessible, running the first in person course of this kind in the UK, focused on this form of practice.
The course will include in depth learning on anatomy, physiology and particular attention to the nervous system, fascia and hypermobility as they relate to Yin yoga.
Meditation will be embedded in the training, as part of every practice and in more depth with Maitripushpa Bois, who will support participants in their practice.
Complimentary forms of yoga will be explored as part of the course, including Yang Yin yoga and Yoga Nidra, so participants can be adaptable and flexible with how they practice and teach.
Participants will gain the confidence to develop their own self-practice, learning skills to bring yoga as a tool for their lives wherever they are.

Extensive practice with Yin yoga classes, pranayama and meditation will happen on each day of the course where we are in person at the West London Buddhist Centre
Asana labs, where poses are broken down into their physical components, how to cue, adapt, support and assist.
The latest anatomy, physiology and biomechanics information in relation to Yin yoga, including specialist interactive lectures on fascia, hypermobility and the nervous system, taught in a way that is useful for your own practice and for sharing with people when you teach
20 Yin yoga classes outside of the week intensives and weekends to attend across the six months (online or in person)
Training in yogic and chinese energy systems, including chakras and the five elements, with handouts and maps included
Embedded and dedicated sessions in pranayama (breathwork) and meditation throughout the course
An understanding of lineage and ethics in yoga, developing your own connections, values and ways of being.
Practical teaching skills, with a non-dogmatic approach, offering clear methodology and many tools, paths and resources to develop your unique teaching style
Mentoring, both in small groups and a 121 session after the training for your personal development.
Specialist lectures on ‘Pregnancy in Yin yoga’, ‘Yoga Nidra’ and ‘Neuroscience, stress and yoga’.
Twenty hours of online content, featuring sessions on yoga’s history, Buddhism and classes with a variety of teachers.
Three Manuals to support your learning during and after the course

Shared learning from a group experience with a diverse range of voices

If you want an immersive experience of yin yoga, to commit to your practice and gain confidence in self-practice at home, then this course will support you over 6 months, with a group of people to share it with.
If you would like to teach Yin yoga, this course will provide you with extensive knowledge from different teachers, a wealth of resources and a community to practice your teaching skills with over a longer period of time
There is coursework on this training for those who wish to teach. This will be staggered during the course so that you have time with each task. It includes practical teaching, two essays and two online quizzes, based on different aspects of the course. We will be flexible and can adapt for those who need a different approach.
Reading is a part of the course. There will be a book club on yoga’s philosophical texts, so everyone can learn from each other's perspectives as we move through the content together.
Self-reflection and mentoring are integral elements of this training, so if you are ready to look inward and notice the changes that happen throughout, this will support you as things shift over time.
Are you able to commit to the dates of the training, as well as continuing to practice and learn in your own time as part of the course?
Are you able to travel to the West London Buddhist Centre for the ‘in person’ days?
If you are considering teaching yoga, ensure to spend time researching what that might look like for you, financially and otherwise, before making any big decisions about leaving other forms of work. This course is paced over 6 months, so that you can learn alongside your other life commitments.

Testimonials
‘What a lovely experience it was to be taught by Norman. He has a wonderful combination of breadth of knowledge and skill, a deep care for his students and an ability to bring a wonderful sense of fun to what he teaches. Our group really bonded, and right from the start the beautifully supportive environment provided a frame from which new skills were able to be learnt and dived into. I ended the course feeling both enriched and confident in my ability to take the Yin teaching out into the world and really connected to my fellow course-members. We've kept a regular practice group going and enjoy meeting monthly on Zoom, which has been incredibly valuable. If you're considering doing the Yin teacher training with Norman I would say to go for it. It's a much-needed modality in the world just now and your nervous system will probably thank you for diving deeper into your Yin practice too!’
“Great teacher - so great to be treated like adults and to be welcomed into his home studio…very grateful for the experience."
“I loved the honesty and the style of teaching. Brilliant course. I have learnt so much and not entirely what I expected to learn. I will highly recommend this course to anyone I know interested in Yin yoga or who wants to discover / learn / explore about themselves and their body.

“Fun, insightful, humble, kind and supportive. The week was like reading a great novel, it took me on a journey within and as the last pages were read, a feeling of completeness and sadness that it was over.”
“Wonderfully balanced, educative experience held safely and warmly.”
“Very welcoming, approachable, real tuition. I love that Norman was so humble and human. I have never felt so comfortable about my body and its limits in a yoga class. This felt like teaching was genuine and from the heart not an ego boost or a money making event.”
“Empowering, stimulating, inspirational. Approachable, amusing, knowledgeable, inspires confidence.”
“Very well planned course that covered a huge amount in the five days. Norman was open and wonderful from day one. He has really opened my eyes up to the world of Yin.”
