About the retreat

Practical, intelligent and with a sense of humour, Norman’s grasp of all things yogic is deep yet accessible. In London, Norman teaches classes, workshops and teacher training courses as well as working with small groups of teachers who value his support and advice. Maitripushpa’s sunny and helpful outlook, along with her deep knowledge of all things meditational, completes this retreat mix.

Norman’s morning yoga classes are Ashtanga with love. He’s fond of props as well as explaining the detail in the yoga postures so you can feel fully supported, mentally and physically. These joyful asana classes wind round the Ashtanga primary series, though take a slower, more forgiving pace than traditional Ashtanga classes. With variations a plenty you are sure to carve out a comfortable and beneficial practice which really works for you – there is definitely room for manoeuvre.

There are slow, juicy Yin Yoga sessions most afternoons where you will have chance to get intensely involved with each pose. Under Norman’s sensitive guidance you can recognise your edge and enjoy experimenting with subtle, and not so subtle sensations.

Yoga Rocks Beach

The Venue

We are excited to welcome you to our new location in Agios Pavlos, a stunning bay with sparkling waters and a warm welcoming atmosphere. You may have visited on a previous stay with us - Agios Pavlos is the next beach over the sand dunes from the wild/naked beach. There is more of a holiday vibe, with umbrellas on the beach, and the retreat centre located within a bay that has two cafes and a taverna. However, aside from having closer neighbors, we are still in the middle of nowhere with deserted beaches just over the hill.

Even though the venue and setting will be a little bit different, we plan to provide the same feeling of coming back home to Yoga Rocks. We'll have the same high quality food and team atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and clean with breathtaking views and much closer to the sea - just a 2 minute walk so jumping in first thing in the morning, straight after class, or any time in fact, will be so much easier. We'll have hammocks to relax in, and great company of course.

Teachers

This retreat will be co-taught by Norman and Maitripushpa. Between them they offer a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Introducing Maitripushpa

Meditation with Maitripushpa is varied and is both a great introduction to meditation for beginners or an amazing opportunity for existing practitioners to develop their practice.

A couple of sessions each day allow Maitripushpa to tap into the vibe created by the asana classes. In sessions, guests can drop deeply into themselves using practices that may include body awareness, walking meditation, sitting or various contemplative practices.

Maitripushpa has a strong Buddhist influence but years of study with varied traditions inform and enrich the meditation experience on this retreat.
